 Joseph Carter and Derek Mattuchio formed MEET THE DAY in Massachusetts during the summer of 2001. The band's music offers rhythmic intensity reminiscent of The Dave Matthews Band or Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals crossed with the storytelling lyric style of Paul Simon. The band arrived on the Boston music scene in mid 2003 with several performances that quickly helped generate strong word of mouth and sold out shows.
